UKZN electrical, electronic & computer engineering


The Disciplines of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering on the Howard College Campus strive to achieve excellence in all of its various activities. With Professor T J O Afullo as Discipline Leader, it has an academic staff establishment of 23 and a non-academic support staff establishment of 15. In 2015 there are 721 registered undergraduate students in the Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering Programmes, 58 postgraduate students registered for the MScEng and 42 registered for PhD degrees. In addition, the staff provide service courses for Mechanical and Chemical Engineering students. 


Graduation took place in April with 23 Computer Engineering students, 31 Electronic Engineering students and 58 Electrical Engineering students graduating with BScEng degrees.  In addition16 students graduated with MScEng degrees and six with PhDs. 

The Disciplines of Electrical, Electronic and Computer engineering are in a state of continuous and rapid growth. Recognizing the challenge of teaching in such an environment, the central philosophy of the cluster is to ensure that the undergraduates gain an enduring capacity for continuous and effective self-education throughout life.
