The School of Electrical, Electronic & Computer Engineering is
housed in its own six-story, air-conditioned building containing offices,
lecture rooms, seminar rooms, laboratories and workshops. Additional
laboratories are located in the neighbouring Howard College, a landmark on
the Durban skyline. In addition to the professional four-year
undergraduate BScEng degree, the School offers a Postgraduate Diploma in
Engineering, MScEng and
PhD degrees. The Masters degree may be obtained by thesis
or by thesis and formal course work.
Academic staff members are expected to participate in the research
activities of the School. This may be as individuals or as part of a group.
Research activities evolve with the interests of the staff.
Research students are often funded from external funds and may also
qualify for financial support from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. For further
